A public Service message

On May the 5th, 2015, Chillicothe Safety Services will be asking the voters of Chillicothe to approve a .2% Income Tax. This tax will be used to create a joint dispatch center for police and fire, and hire more police and Firefighters. The joint Dispatch center will allow a firefighter to return to the street, and free up to 2 police officers. There will be savings as well in the lower cost of civilian dispatchers versus using police and Fire Fighters who we have invested 10s of thousands of dollars in specialized training and equipment.
The levy will allow the 2 closed fire stations to reopen and provide the coverage to outlying areas of the city. By increasing police staff, we can return to proactive policing. Taking the fight back to the drug dealers and criminals. WE can bring back bike patrol, increase crime prevention and Community Policing. Community Policing will be playing a greater role in policing in America for years to come and we need to continue with our efforts.
We also intend to increase our presence in the city schools, and put more officers in the hallways to protect our children. As our department moves forward, we look to serving the community in a more efficient, cost effective manner without sacrificing quality and service. In essence, get back to the job of police work.
