ID sought in breaking and entering of vacant schools


The Chillicothe Police Department is asking for assistance in identifying the person in the attached picture.    He is a suspect in a Breaking and Entering  at the  former  Smith Middle School.   Anyone having information on the identification of this subject can contact Det. City Announces Annual Leaf Collection

leavesCurb-side leaf collection will begin this year on Monday, October 20, 2014. Collection of loose leaves will take place Monday – Friday during regular daytime hours. No bagged leaves will be collected.

Due to the heavy concentration of fallen leaves, crews will begin in the hilly areas on the west end of town. Crews will systematically work their way to the east end and then make another pass in the west end as more leaves fall. Loose leaves will be collected until the year end, weather permitting. DO NOT rake leaves into the streets, ditches, or gutters in order to prevent plugging storm drains or sewer lines.

521.10 OBSTRUCTING WATERCOURSE.
(a) No person shall obstruct, stop up or cause the same to be done to any gutter , culvert, watercourse, or ditch in any street or public ground of the City, so as to impede the free passage of water.

The City’s Yard Waste Drop-Off Site 415 S. Renick Avenue is also available to residents for leaf disposal. Loose leaves and those in biodegradable bags may be dropped off at this site. Leaves in plastic bags must be emptied and the bags removed. DO NOT take leaves to the Park Annex.

ID sought in theft from Dunham’s

On 10-13-14, prior to 8Pm, a w/m entered Dunham Sports and selected over $1,000 in camouflaged clothing and walked out the door without paying.  The man got into a gold Honda Civic and drove off.  Anyone who can ID the suspect can contact Ofc. Newsome at 740-773-119 and refer to report # 14-18536.

We realize the video is the best of quality, but someone may still know the person.  It appears he has on black Nike shoes.

Trick or Treat for CITY OF CHILLICOTHE 2014

The Mayor’s office has announced that Trick or Treat (also referred to as Beggar’s Night) will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30th, 2014. The hours are from 6P-7:30PM. Ages 12 and under only please.

Sack N Save Robbery suspect apprehended

At approx. 6:23AM this morning, Ofcs. were dispatched to Sack N Save in ref. a robbery. A store employee was outside of the store when a masked subject oldbadegapproached her with a gun (later discovered not to be real) in one hand and knife in the other. The subject demanded access to the store’s safe. The employee told him that she had no access to the safe.

Another store employee was inside the building and observed what was going on and called 911. The suspect saw the phone call being placed, and ran from the area.
As Ofcs. were converging on the robbery scene, an officer encountered a small blue car in the w/b alleyway that runs between Main and Fourth St., approaching S. Paint St. The vehicle had no headlights on and was traveling at a high rate of speed.
An officer attempted to block the suspect in, but the suspect continued going and nearly crashed into the cruiser.
The officer then pursued the vehicle, in which he continued to flee. The suspect vehicle then crashed into a tree and telephone booth in the area of the N/W corner of Main and Paint Sts.
The suspect then ran from the car and a foot pursuit ensued. The suspect was apprehended shortly thereafter.
Evidence gathered at the scene, from the car and statements made by the suspect led officers to believe this was the robbery suspect. The suspect was taken to the Ross Co. Jail where he was held on charges of Aggravated robbery and felony fleeing.

The name of the suspect is being withheld at this time due to an ongoing investigation. As soon as other matters are resolved, the information will be released.

Arrests made minutes after early morning robbery at Circle K

On 9-3-14 at approx. 2:36AM, Ofcs. were dispatched to Circle K on N. High St. in reference a possible robbery in progress. An eyewitness pulled onto the lot of the Circle K and observed 2 subjects, later identified as Joshua Honaker and Jordan Stotridge) behind the counter removing items from the shelves. The witness then called police from a safe area. On Ofcs. arrival, the suspects had left the store.

According to the clerk, both suspects had entered the store and ran behind the counter. One suspect was brandishing a hammer and demanding she open the safe. The clerk told them she did not have access to the safe and The suspects utilized the hammer to try to open the safe. They were not successful. The suspects then demanded money from the cash register. The suspects left the store with cash and tobacco products. Minutes after Ofcs. arrived on scene, the suspects were apprehended. One suspect was apprehended on the flood wall, and the other behind BP on N. High Sts. Both subjects were charged with robbery and safe cracking.

Aggravated Robbery suspect captured

On 08-25-2014 at 11:20am officers were sent to 1595 N. Bridge St. (Loan Max) in Chillicothe reference a robbery. Officers contacted employees who advised around 10:00am a male subject entered the store wearing blue jeans and a black T-shirt. They stated the subject asked to use the restroom and was shown to the facilities. They advised after 40 to 50 minutes the subject emerged from the restroom stating he was not feeling well and asked to return to the restroom a few minutes later. Shortly after the subject exited the restroom and presented an employee a handwritten note on a Loan Max business card that stated “If the cops show before I leave I gotta kill you both. Give me the money.” Employees said they noticed the subject had a large machete in his hand so they gave him what money they had on hand and the subject left on foot north bound.

Chillicothe Police Detectives working with Detectives from the U.S. 23 Major Crimes Task Force and Ohio Organized Crime Commission developed information that the suspect was Dana Butcher. A recent photo of Mr. Butcher appeared to be the same subject in the security video committing the robbery. Detectives later observed Mr. Butcher in a vehicle along with an adult female and an infant child at Wendy’s on E. Main St. in Chillicothe. At approx. 1:00pm Detectives and patrol Officers in marked cruisers from the Chillicothe Police Dept. and Ross Co. Sheriff’s Office stopped the vehicle on the lot without incident. Detectives interviewed Mr. Butcher and he admitted to committing the robbery. A large machete was seen in plain sight between the front seats of the vehicle Mr. Butcher was in. Mr. Butcher was placed under arrest for aggravated robbery and transported to the Ross County Jail. He will appear in the Chillicothe Municipal Court on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 9am.

Former Police K9 Dudo passes away

Former police K9 Dudo,  recently passed away from complications attributed to cancer. Dudo was a 7 year old Belgian Malinois who served with the CPD from 2007 through March, 2012. K9 Dudo left the service of the PD when his handler, Ofc. Judd, resigned to seek other employment.

Charlotte was reported missing by her mother on May 18, 2014. Her mother said that she had been missing for 2 weeks at that time. Trego is said to be a drug abuser, suffers from depression, and has suicidal tendencies. Known associates have been contacted and they have not seen her.
