City Announces Annual Leaf Collection

Crews will systematically work their way to the east end and then make another pass in the west end as more leaves fall. Loose leaves will be collected until the year end, weather permitting. DO NOT rake leaves into the streets, ditches, or gutters in order to prevent plugging storm drains or sewer lines.

Sack N Save Robbery suspect apprehended

At approx. 6:23AM this morning, Ofcs. were dispatched to Sack N Save in ref. a robbery. A store employee was outside of the store when a masked subject oldbadegapproached her with a gun (later discovered not to be real) in one hand and knife in the other. The subject demanded access to the store’s safe. The employee told him that she had no access to the safe.

Another store employee was inside the building and observed what was going on and called 911. The suspect saw the phone call being placed, and ran from the area.
As Ofcs. were converging on the robbery scene, an officer encountered a small blue car in the w/b alleyway that runs between Main and Fourth St., approaching S. Paint St. The vehicle had no headlights on and was traveling at a high rate of speed.
An officer attempted to block the suspect in, but the suspect continued going and nearly crashed into the cruiser.
The officer then pursued the vehicle, in which he continued to flee. The suspect vehicle then crashed into a tree and telephone booth in the area of the N/W corner of Main and Paint Sts.
The suspect then ran from the car and a foot pursuit ensued. The suspect was apprehended shortly thereafter.
Evidence gathered at the scene, from the car and statements made by the suspect led officers to believe this was the robbery suspect. The suspect was taken to the Ross Co. Jail where he was held on charges of Aggravated robbery and felony fleeing.

The name of the suspect is being withheld at this time due to an ongoing investigation. As soon as other matters are resolved, the information will be released.
