Quick recovery in vehicle theft, suspect arrested

PRESS RELEASE

The Chillicothe Police Department was called at 8:05am on January 15th to the rear of the Chillicothe Fire Station #1 at 54 E. Water St. in ref. to a stolen motor vehicle. A description of the vehicle was broadcast to all Law Enforcement agencies. At 8:45am, an officer observed the vehicle in the area of Main and Bridge St’s. but briefly lost sight of it. The vehicle was then located underneath the E. Main St. overpass where Nathaniel Ward of 107 Ewing St. was ordered out from inside the vehicle and was arrested. Officer’s then noticed that there were several pieces of paper on fire inside the vehicle. A CFD Arson Investigator was called and is assisting in the investigation.
Mr. Ward is being held in the Ross County Jail on felony charges of receiving stolen property and tampering with evidence. Additional charges are pending presentation of the case to the Ross County Grand Jury.
