Stolen from Shawnee Square on 5-18-11, an Orange 2006 Harley Davidson Sportster. ANy information can be given to Ofc. Lawhorn, refering to report 11-8467. Anonymous tips can be given to SOuthern Ohio Crime stoppers at 740-773-TIPS, or by clickicking here to submit a tip for Southern Ohio Crimestoppers. Ross County Safe Communities in cooperation with the Chillicothe Police Department, Ross County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol announce a local kickoff event for the “Click it or Ticket” campaign. The event will be at KC Raceway, 2535 Blain Highway Waverly, Ohio on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 5:30PM. We encourage all to attend KC Raceway this night and support the local “Click it or Ticket” campaign.

Canine Ciko and Ofc. T. Gannon

Ofc. Gannon and Ciko are now on the road and on patrol. Canine Ciko was born in 2009, and is a Dutch Shepherd. Ciko and Ofc. Gannon received their training at Lynwood Kennels in Fremont, Oh. Ceiko and handler Ofc. Gannon are both sworn Police Officers.

The mission of the canine unit is to provide a trained canine that can be deployed whenever needed to fulfill a mission to safeguard the community and its officers. Additionally, to provide a clear deterrent to resistive suspects intent on assault, evasion or escape.

The training of the handler team include, but is not limited to, the following skills:

1) Tracking

2) Building Search

3) Field Search

4) Handler Protection

5) Physical Apprehension

6) Narcotics Detection

Standards of performance are in compliance with North American Police Work Dog Association and OPOTA Standards

Heroin arrest 5-10-11

Detectives with the Chillicothe Police Department arrested four individuals after a traffic stop at the corner of E. Main St. and Renick Ave. Officer’s recovered heroin and drug paraphernalia as a result of this stop.

Arrested were Gregory A. Ward and Crystal S. Ratliff for Child endangering after it was found that they tripped to Columbus to purchase heroin with their small child (age 3)in the car. Also arrested were Connie Rinehart for a felony warrant charging failure to appear in Ross County Common Pleas Court and Billy Keller Jr. for a felony warrant charging failure to appear in Ross Co. Common Pleas Court. Additional charges are pending lab results and presentation to the Grand Jury.

The stop came as a result of a continuing investigation into subjects from Chillicothe traveling to Columbus to purchase heroin and returning to Chillicothe. This investigation is ongoing
