DARE Ofc. Larry Cox Memorial Poker Run Pre-Registration

Pre-Regisrtation is this weekend at the Easyrider Rodeo.  Look for our booth 

This event will be on the 22nd of September, 2012. The run leaves the Harley Davidson Shop,818 Eastern Ave. Chillicothe, Oh at 111AM.
Entry fee is $20 per rider, $30 a couple, with registration beginning at 9am. We will have a booth set up at the EasyRider Rodeo (Labor Day weekend) at the Ross Co. Fairgrounds, come see us.
T-shirts can be pre-ordered at Sports Plus, 193 E. Main St.

3 indicted,1 charged in West end burglary spree

The Chillicothe Police Department indicted 3 subjects, and an additional subject has been charged, in connection with multiple burglaries on the West side of Chillicothe. The burglaries occurred throughout the month of July and into August 2012. Jeremy D. Smith was indicted on one (1) count of burglary. Desean Fairrow was indicted on one (1) count of complicity to burglary. Jordan Stotridge was indicted on one (1) count of complicity to burglary. Joshua Honaker has been charged, through Chillicothe Municipal Court, on one (1) felony count of receiving stolen property.

These subjects have been linked to multiple burglaries. Additional charges are pending further investigation by the Chillicothe Police Department and future indictments are expected. There are also charges expected against additional suspects, regarding the property related to these crimes.

Congratulations Trooper Evan Cox

The Chillicothe Police Department would like to congratulate Trooper Evan Cox on his recent graduation. Today, Trooper Cox graduated from The Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy, completing 22 weeks of intense training to become an Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper.

Child safety seat check today

Today, from 3P-6PM, the Ross County Health Dept. along with the Chillicothe Police and Fire Departments will be holding a child safety seat check . Certified car seat technicians will be on hand to educate parents, guardians and caregivers on the proper installation and use of a child safety seat. The event will be held at Chillicothe Fire Department Station #1 at 54 E. Water St.

ID needed in Wal Mart robbery

Help is needed in identifying the subject in this picture. The suspect was caught concealing items on his person in Wal-Mart. When stopped by Loss Prevention and another employee, the suspect ran off through the parking lot. When employees caught up to him, he began throwing punches at them. The Loss prevention employee evaded a punch and fell to the ground, injuring himself. The suspect then got into the passenger seat of a van and drove off.
Due to the fact force was used in the commission of this theft offense, robbery charges are being requested.
Anyone with information in this case should contact Ofc. M. Short at 740-773-1191, referring to report 12-17648.

Street light out?

Street lights throughout the city of Chillicothe are powered by AEP, and the city is responsible for paying the bill. Street lights that are out or malfunctioning are still assesed a fee for their usage.
If the street light is out, it cannot serve its purpose and invites criminal activity or unsafe driving conditions.

Officer Freeman retires after 28 years

Officer Curtis Freeman retired from the Chillicothe Police Department effective August 1, 2012. Officer Freeman put in 28 years of service to the citizens of Chillicothe and is to be commended for his honorable service. A gathering honoring Officer Freeman’s service and celebrating his retirement was held at the Ross County Law Enforcement Complex on August 1st. The attached photograph is Chief Roger Moore issuing Officer Freeman a plaque commemorating his retirement.


Search warrant served

The Chillicothe Police Department Special Response Team and Detectives served a drug search warrant at approximately 5:00PM on August 1, 2012. The search warrant was served at 90 N Rose St where cocaine, drug paraphernalia and cash was located inside of the residence. Arrested were the resident Veronica Roberts and Sidney B. Wilson from Columbus, Ohio.
