Assault investigation leads to drug arrests

On February 6, 2014 at 4am Officers were dispatched to the Adena Hospital emergency room in ref. to a male subject there who had been stabbed. Officers contacted the victim who was being treated for injuries to his abdomen, arm and head and he stated that the incident occurred at 165 N. Sugar St. after he became involved in an argument with a black male in the basement. The victim stated that the black male struck him and then cut him several times with a box cutter. The victim was treated and released. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence at 165 N. Sugar St. and at approx. 10am served it on the resident, Harry Willett. While securing the residence Officers observed Lamar Howell in the kitchen throw something down the basement stairs and heard it crash on the concrete floor. Howell and a female, Shantel Mayle, were secured. Detectives located over 40 grams of crack cocaine in the kitchen and on the basement floor where detectives also located a broken glass mixing bowl. Detectives also found cash, drug paraphernalia, and Ecstasy (MDMA). Harry Willett was arrested and charged with permitting drug abuse (M-3). Lamar Howell was arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine (F-1) and tampering with evidence (F-3). Shantel Mayle was arrested and charged with illegal use or possession of a food stamp card (F-5)
