Aggravated Robbery suspect captured

On 08-25-2014 at 11:20am officers were sent to 1595 N. Bridge St. (Loan Max) in Chillicothe reference a robbery. Officers contacted employees who advised around 10:00am a male subject entered the store wearing blue jeans and a black T-shirt. They stated the subject asked to use the restroom and was shown to the facilities. They advised after 40 to 50 minutes the subject emerged from the restroom stating he was not feeling well and asked to return to the restroom a few minutes later. Shortly after the subject exited the restroom and presented an employee a handwritten note on a Loan Max business card that stated “If the cops show before I leave I gotta kill you both. Give me the money.” Employees said they noticed the subject had a large machete in his hand so they gave him what money they had on hand and the subject left on foot north bound.

Chillicothe Police Detectives working with Detectives from the U.S. 23 Major Crimes Task Force and Ohio Organized Crime Commission developed information that the suspect was Dana Butcher. A recent photo of Mr. Butcher appeared to be the same subject in the security video committing the robbery. Detectives later observed Mr. Butcher in a vehicle along with an adult female and an infant child at Wendy’s on E. Main St. in Chillicothe. At approx. 1:00pm Detectives and patrol Officers in marked cruisers from the Chillicothe Police Dept. and Ross Co. Sheriff’s Office stopped the vehicle on the lot without incident. Detectives interviewed Mr. Butcher and he admitted to committing the robbery. A large machete was seen in plain sight between the front seats of the vehicle Mr. Butcher was in. Mr. Butcher was placed under arrest for aggravated robbery and transported to the Ross County Jail. He will appear in the Chillicothe Municipal Court on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 9am.
