Test for Police Officer has been posted by Civil Service

The City of Chillicothe, Civil Service Commission, has posted the examination date for position of Police Officer.  The application period is July 31st through August the 18, 2017.     The exam is on  August 31st, 2017 at 5PM

Completed applications will ONLY be accepted via MAIL. Your submission must include a $25 non-refundable application fee.  The application fee can be waived upon submission of Affidavit of Indigence. 

   *Applications must be mailed along with check or money order made payable to the City of Chillicothe.  Mail check to:  Human Resources Dept, 35 South Paint Street, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601. They MUST be postmarked by 8-18-17.

Nature of patrol work:

Investigate complaints, crimes and traffic crashes, appropriate use of division facilities and equipment, enforce City Ordinances, state and federal laws and other regulations, write reports for input to division records system, perform public relations activities, maintain relationships with external agencies, maintain personal and professional competence and awareness.

The Chillicothe Police Department offers competitive pay ($46,000 annual starting pay for non-probationary Ofcs. , with step increases)  and benefits.

Opportunity for advancement

The Chillicothe Police Department offers many opportunities for advancement. After four years, patrol Officers are eligible to take the Sergeants promotional exam. Sgts. would then be able to take a Captains exam after 1 year and then ultimately the Chief’s exam. All other job classifications are based on experience and seniority.
