The Purpose of the crime prevention division is to attempt to reduce criminal activity through education and community awareness. The crime prevention officer, Officer CA “Bud” Lytle, attends community functions explaining the role of the Chillicothe Police Department in public safety. Officer Lytle is also involved in implementing and assisting neighborhood watch groups throughout our community. Officer Lytle is also the program coordinator for Project D.U.M.P. (Disposal of Unwanted Medications Properly). Officer Lytle is also a consultant to the S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Lawmen Together) and Southern Ohio Crime Stoppers boards. Officer Cam Morris is the Chillicothe Police Departments representative to the Senior Home Inspection Program (S.H.I.P.) and assists in the inspection and placement of safety devices in senior citizen’s homes.
